D1: Coordination of Data Management in ClimXtreme (CODAX)

To support the scientific activities in ClimXtreme, module D takes over the coordination of software and data management. The priority of the data-related work in CoDaX is to support the ClimXtreme partners in the evaluation and application of new data products by providing and integrating them into a central evaluation system (ClimXtreme Central Evaluation System, XCES). In the second phase of ClimXtreme, the focus in data provision is on near-real-time products to support the overarching activities in the consortium with regard to rapid assessments when extreme events occur. In addition to provision and integration, the development of methods for the evaluation and assessment of the data sets with regard to extreme events will be part of CoDaX as well. We focus on the understanding of uncertainties of extremes induced by changes of the used observation systems over time and space in reanalysis and station-based datasets.

CoDaX will support ClimXtreme by identifying relevant definitions of user/stakeholder specific extreme indices in direct contact with user groups from agriculture, transport, hydrology and energy sectors.
