The ClimXtreme II mid term meeting took place from 10th to 12th February 2025 in Bonn. All 25 sub-projects participated to present intermediate results, to discuss scientific approaches and to foster collaborations.

Beside the ClimXtreme researchers, invited guests from ETH Zürich, Deutsche Rück, Munich Re, ECMWF, DWD, and ARD weather channel actively contributed to the discussion about the usability of scientific results for practical application. In a panel discussion, the need for sustainable information channels and for the possibility for stakeholders to use numerical (interim) results rather than just final pictures was emphasized.

The three ClimXtreme “Hazard Specific Stakeholder Interaction” (HaSSI) groups about heat/drought, precipitation and wind individually met during the mid term meeting. The HaSSI groups are working on the preparation of upcoming stakeholder workshops and catch up past workshops.

While the format of the HaSSI groups aims at in depth interaction with stakeholders, the discussion with the guests clearly showed that the ClimXtreme website will be the major source to get up-to-date information and results from the current research of the project.

Individual updates on the website will follow soon.
